Tucson Kent's World

Creative Marketing!

Today I had the good fortune to spend my morning driving around the area west of Tucson for 2 reasons:

  1. To shoot some photos to send of the area around Saguaro National Park West for an out-of-state client
  2. To do a favor & pick up a listing sign & lockbox in Three Points for a fellow agent who is laid up for a while

Sure, I put a lot of miles on the old truck, but it was a day to appreciate the beauty of the area and do something that made me feel good by helping someone out.

Getting ready to pull back onto Hwy 86 back to Tucson, I looked above me & noticed some truly creative marketing:

AC Repair Service sign with a mannequin waist-deep hanging out of an old AC unit - looking like he's hard at work repairing it.

You know--sometimes you have to get off of the beaten path to enjoy some creativity and a little humor.  I don't think I want any peacocks, but I might just have to call this guy to see how his A/C service & repair is sometime!

"The Boneyard" - Davis Monthan Air Force Base In Tucson

Tucson is home to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, one of the largest employers in Southern Arizona and a huge slice of the economic pie.  The origins of the base can be traced to the earliest days of civil aviation when the City of Tucson acquired acreage for a landing strip, southeast of town.  1927 saw none other than Charles Lindbergh arrive to dedicate Davis-Monthan Field, which was the largest municipal air field in the U.S. at the time.

The military presence began in 1940 and has evolved into an integral part of the very fabric that makes Tucson what it is today.

Driving down Kolb Road in Southeast Tucson, one can see the "boneyard" of mothballed airplanes.  Some are preserved for recommissioning while others are kept for spare parts and research purposes.

Tucson's Catalina Mountains provide a backdrop for Davis-Monthan Air Force Base's Acres upon acres, row after row of aviation history past and present are reminders of the advances of aerospace and the price of the freedoms we enjoy.

One can get "up close & personal" with a visit to the Pima Air Museum, which is both a Tucson institution & a veritable showcase of aviation & aerospace history.
