Local Expert: Tucson Chalk Art Festival This Saturday! Free!

Have you ever gotten one of those emails from a friend with photos of amazingly real sidewalk art?  Haven't you had in the back of your mind, "I'd love to watch someone do that in person," and file it away for "someday"?

In Tucson, that day is here!  Saturday, April 26, 15 artists will enthrall us with their talent, vision and whimsy on the smooth brick plaza in front of the Downtown Library from 11 AM until 6 PM.  There will be all sorts of participants from the Tucson arts scene including music, dancing, poetry, books galore and more!

To learn more about the 3rd Annual Tucson Madonnari Chalk Art Festival, including a schedule of events, visit the Downtown Tucson Partnership website.  Enjoy the Tucson Lifestyle!  See you there.

"Never forget - Real Estate Is About People"

I've seen this on tv and it looks so real! One of the chalk art I loved was a scene of stairs going down to a subway...you talk about unreal looking to the point you could actually vision walking down!

This looks very cool... my kids actually had an impromptu chalk festival on our front walk... three days later it's still there- delighting the family.

A friend sent me the one you are talking about, Sally, what an awesome piece of work!

Nice, Chuck - it sure beats what we used to use on the sidewalk when I was a kid--green pecans don't wash away so easily.

Kent,

You're attracting a readership!  Sally Cheeseman is one of the most encouraging people on Active Rain.  (And I never heard of using green pecans to mark on the sidewalk!  I need to get out more.  LOL)

Green pecans? How about "snakes" the least dramatic looking firework around... they leave black swirly burn marks that last ages.

Mike & Chuck - I'm astonished that with all of the pecans in Arizona, you two never heard about the green ones!  It is the husk that is green before it dries up and releases the nut.  When you rub it on something, it stains it a nice brown color--usually nearly impossible to remove.  I deserved every spanking I got for the trouble those green pecans were my accomplice in!

Great post Kent - and amazing photos. We have quite a few sidewalk artists in Halifax every summer and the work they do will stop you in your tracks. Great local content for your blog!

Thanks Jason - I wonder if any of the artists are on a kind of "chalk circuit" roaming the world?  Their talent is special enough that it might be fun to see something like that.

Buildings are not very cheap and not everyone is able to buy it. Nevertheless, personal loans are invented to support different people in such kind of hard situations.
