Tucson Kent's World: Why Wait For Washington? Economic Stimulus Begins Locally - Tucson Proposal

Why Wait For Washington? Economic Stimulus Begins Locally - Tucson Proposal

There's been a lot of focus on the Economic Stimulus package lately...and whatever happens, effects will take some time to be felt on a local level.  Why wait?  Why not see what can be done without Congress...and take charge of our own economic recovery on a local level?

This afternoon in El Presidio Park, a couple hundred people gathered to rally support behind a proposal to put a moratorium on some of the impact fees builders are charged by the City of Tucson.  Check out the short version of video I shot at the rally:

The spirit of "can do" and working together to solve our problems locally...instead of waiting for Washington to trickle its manna from on high.  I applaud and support the efforts of our local builders-those who build things on a day-to-day basis are ready to go to work instead of sitting around waiting for someone else to get recovery started.

SAHBA (Southern Arizona Home Builder's Association), ACT (Alliance of Construction Trades), Tucson Chamber of Commerce and other leaders & representatives spoke at today's rally.

***Consistent at least, Tucson's City Council voted yesterday to refer the proposal to committee.  (yawn)

Kent,

maybe with this attitude we would not even to waste so much money that we can't even comprehend, but have a burning desire to waste.

Aww, shucks Liz - you're making me blush!  Thanks for the kind words.

Jon - the attitude and the willingness to roll our sleeves up & get to work instead of sitting around waiting for someone else to get the ball rolling!

Kent,

You scooped the evening news with this!  The "impact" is on the homebuyer and the real estate related industries.

I persistently and consistently work my daily plans which seem to provide niche markets, niche economies, and even niche environments which then seem to insulate me from the doom and gloom over which I have no control. My daily plans can be accomplished without going outside of my county.
